A Year of Gratitude - Lowry Park Zoo

Good morning everyone.
Did you have a special weekend?
Let me know what special events graced your life over the weekend.

As promised, this week, am taking you all to the zoo!
Before I take you to the "highlight" of our day, feeding the giraffes,
am showcasing some of the magnificent animals who call the zoo home.

The stunning Malayan Tiger

While I do not want to meet up with these magnificent animals in the wild,
I  love to photograph them.

Do you know what this animal is?

Did you guess correctly?
A sloth bear.

Since I know many of you love researching I added the zoo's "informative pages".
What I found so interesting about this bear is that it can gallop faster than a person can run.
Really????
Who know from looking and it's name.
Just goes to show we cannot judge a book by it's cover, can we?

I think it does have a "sweet face".
What do you think?

A clouded leopard

What is interesting is that these small to medium shy cats can only purr like a small cat!

Looks almost like a big stuffed animal in this picture.
Do you think so?

Here is another shy, sweet species I love to photograph.
Actually, loved this one so much, I took him home with me!
For anyone visiting for the first time, this is my gift from the Lord, my hubby, Terry.

A Borean Orang - utan

Golden lion tamarins

I hope you enjoyed the first installment of our trip to the zoo.
Wednesday I will showcase the camels, zebras and giraffes.
I took over 400 shots at the zoo and loved every minute of our day.
Hardest part is picking the ones to share for a post.

In the future I will be doing others posts on the animals we saw on our visit
tying it in with scripture and perhaps some inspiration along the way.

Want to see me feed a giraffe?
Then don't miss my post on Wednesday.

From my heart to yours, may your day be blessed.
Lynn

You are so much like me, Lynn! I take this many pictures when we go someplace special, then it is hard narrowing them down to the few to post. Your pictures are really fabulous!!! Your use of lighting, the poses you got, everything!!!!! I wonder if that sloth bear is related to the sloth, how unbelievable, it's name belies it's speed!!! I cannot pick a favorite here, I love them all!!!

What gorgeous pictures! Especially the tigers.
Thank you for sharing, and thank you for the many nice comments that you have made on my blog. Sometimes I think "does anybody see this?" And then...a nice comment from you or another blogger. Makes it worthwhile..and I do it all simply because I LOVE IT!!!!
Blogging is such a great way to share.

NIce photos of the animals, but I agree with. You were lucky with the choice of which one you are going to take home with you:)

Hi Lynn! Oh I love your animal pictures, especially the tiger and the shaggy bear. And, the shy husband is awful cute too! :) We took a little vacation last week to Atlanta. We got home late Saturday night. We had such a good time. We went at a nice slow pace and it was really refreshing. Tony and I took my niece and mother-in-law along with us too. I posted some of the pictures over on my blog. The botanical garden was especially wonderful. We don't have a lot of flowers here where we live because we are so close to the woods and all the deer and rabbits come out at night and eat them up! So it was wonderful to see all the flowers growing so big and lush. They had a fantastic orchid display. It was a great time of year to go. Thank you too for keeping me in your prayers, that is so sweet and kind of you. It has been a bit difficult pain wise the last few weeks and it was very thoughtful of you to care. While the trip was a bit hard physically it did me a lot of good and I feel really refreshed mentally and emotionally. :) I hope that you have a lovely afternoon ahead! With Love, Delisa :)

Gorgeous pictures, Lynn. I told George recently that he and I need to go to the Knoxville Zoo sometime. I haven't been to the zoo in years and years...

Love your photos-especially that Cutie you took home with you....
Hugs,
Betsy
