Like so many "special places" we love, Mountain View, Arkansas is all about the music.
It claims to be the Folk Music Capital of the World.
It claims to be the Folk Music Capital of the World.
During the season, banjos, dulcimers, guitars, fiddles and other acoustic
instruments can be heard all around the Historic Courthouse Square
almost every night of the week.
Impromptu musicians gather and play the music of the mountains.
Just bring a lawn chair and meander around the traditional Mountain, Folk, Bluegrass, and Gospel Bluegrass groups gathered around the square.
We have stayed at the Wildflower Inn both times we are been in Mountain View
It is right on one corner of the square.
The first time, we had a room downstairs, right off the beautiful side porch.
Enjoying the side porch in front of our room.
The second time we stayed here, we stayed longer and had a suite upstairs.
Both were lovely rooms and we would gladly stay here again.
We took our lawn chairs to courtyard square early in the day (on weekends) and enjoyed
all the music our hearts could hold.
Then did it all again the next day.
The two photos above are the Turner Family Gospel Bluegrass.

My hubby and I grew up in the NE, then lived in
heavily populated Tampa Bay area in Florida.
Neither of us had ever experienced "pickin' in the park"
Of course we fell in love with Mountain View and the music of the mountains.
If you follow my blog you know that we always buy the CD's from the performers we like.
We went home with an arm full after our three days in Arkansas!

When we were not enjoying the music in the square we were having lunch
or ice cream in this delightful old fashioned drug store.

After we left Mountain View, we headed for Eureka Springs
and then spent 5 days totally fogged in a log cabin in Jasper, Ark.
Will show you some photos of that tomorrow.
So sorry, have been having sinus issues today and could not do as much
as I intended on this post.
More tomorrow!
From my heart to yours, may your day be blessed,
Lynn

Darn, just as it was getting much better! But I hope you don't have a sinus infection?? The drugstore is so unusual!!
Oh Lynn... This makes me so excited.. I've been to Mountain View several times ---and have had a milkshake at the Woods Pharmacy/Soda Fountain... Seems like we had some kind of good sandwich there also... There's a neat quilt shop in that town also --and lots of great little stores.... Such a neat place...
I need to take George up there. We also have been to Jasper --mostly searching for waterfalls. I do know that Scenic Highway 7 is beautiful in that area...
Keep those good pictures coming.
Hugs,
Betsy
love the pic of the old drug store. We still have a little old drug store in our town and they still serve food. Hey, I have been to Eureka Springs. We went when we only had 2 babies and saw the passion play (out doors) there.
Delightful blog! I'm a new follower! ♥

Hi Lynn, Such a busy week for me working I am finally popping in for a visit. I love the photos from Arkansas and Eureka Springs is one of my most favorite places. I haven't seen it since I left the south and moved out here. I appreciate all your encouraging notes!
