A Year of Gratitude - My first child

The only career I even wanted was being a mom.
Well, ok, to be honest there was one career I thought about briefly.....
a baton twirler...seriously.
But
After numerous times of throwing it up and having it come down on my head,
I thought being a "only" a mother would be easier!

38 years ago this morning at 11:38 the Lord blessed me with a beautiful
healthy "Big" little girl, 8lb 15 oz
after 32 hours of labor and emergency c-section.

Then she brought Mike to meet us.
My first reaction was "oh no, not this one"!
I thought he was way too good looking, would break her heart.
I am so grateful that I was TOTALLY WRONG.

This is one of my favorites of the Danks family!
Yes, it is taken almost 3 years ago.
The baby, Dylan, will be three the end of the month!

The Lord blessed me abundantly that day in January 1974
and a child is always your child no matter how old they are.

I love you Heather Lee Danks.
Thank you for the joy of being your mother.

From my heart to yours, may your day be blessed. Lynn

It is so nice to have a daughter! I have 2 sons and one daughter. I am so glad I can experience both. Daughters are so great , especially when they have children of their own. You know they are experiencing what you have experienced and it makes for an interesting bonding~

Hi Kim, You have the opposite of me, I have two daughters and a son. The interesting aspect is seeing yourself in your daughters. The big thing my girls say to me and probably all the time to each other, "oh I sound just like mom"!. Actually, too funny, but tomorrow is my daughter's middle son's birthday! So I am doing another post on Kevin. Then Dylan at the end of the month. Our family really likes January. Have a wonderful day!

PS--I am 2 hours from Charleston and my cold is doing a lot better--I will probably have some congestion for another week however.

Two daughters? ooooo--nice! Sons are nice too, don't want to discriminate!

What a beautiful family, and a beautiful daughter! Is she your only child? I always only wanted to be a mom, too. Nothing else. Even from the time I was a kid. Our son is 41.

I'll be honest with you, I don't remember if we ever met or not, but Heather and I went to Lloyd Estates. We met in I believe 2nd grade, if not 3rd, in Mr. Utry's class. We were his "teacher's pets"!! I finally found her on Facebook through our friend Sheila. Heather was always the nicest person, and somewhere I have a few pictures of the 3 of us together. I am SO glad to have found her again, and that she is happy, and has such a beautiful family!!
Take care, and what a great post!!! Happy belated birthday to Heather!!
