2009 Easter sunrise service at Pier, St. Petersburg, FL
This morning, I found myself hudded into one of our bathrooms, with loving hubby,
praying and singing "How Great Thou Art".
We usually retreat to a hotel around the corner from us when there is a servere
tornado warning,
but
this morning the weather turned so nasty, so fast, such heavy rain and wind
there was no time.
Loving hubby handed me a plastic bag, told me to put all my meds in and my CI
batteries and charger in.
I thought we were off to the hotel.....
but no time for that!
For 40 minutes or so we huddled, prayed and sang.
We learned after, there was a tornado a mile from us.
I praise HIM for keeping us safe and the safety of our family this morning.
Still waiting on family in Lakeland and DIL who was driving home on business...
but appears they are all ok.
Now sings my soul, my Saviour God to thee,
How Great Thou Art!
May you have sunshine and blue skies in your day today.

Oh Lynn, I'm so happy to hear you are both safe! We get tornado warnings also and I know how scary it can be when the sky suddenly grows dark and ominous. I grew up in California and learned to take earthquakes in stride, but tornados really scare me too. Where we live the water table is so high that we can't have storm cellars and we have had to huddle a couple of times in our big walk in closet under the staircase. Your husband was quick thinking about getting all your meds together! I have been planning on getting a back pack for each of us and keeping emergency supplies in them like meds, water, shoes ect...I really need to take that seriously. I hope the storm has passed and you can relax this evening! Delisa :)
Hi Lynn
So glad to hear you're safe. We've been through a tornado ourselves which is very rare in these parts and it's very easy to panic. We have concrete basements which are usually a safe place to be.
Take care,
Judith

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for visiting my blog. Glad to know you and your family are safe. I lived in N. Texas and Nashville for a while and being a Californian it was a real new experience to sit in a bathtub and wait for the roof to blow off!
Im so glad to be back on the West Coast. In fact I'm toying with the idea of moving from Portland to the coast. I'm retired, and my daughter is moving to her own apartment the middle of next month, so I'm free to do what I want.
As to where to go, I'd hit Cannon Beach and follow the coast down to see all the wonderful lighthouses. Mt. Hood is a wonderful area to explore, as is Mt. St. Helen's. there is a visitor center there that tell the story of all the eruptions.
We have world class wineries in the Willamette Valley and there are even tours that you can arrange through your hotel, so you can sample safely. Portland has loads of great restaurants, museums, and theaters. There is a rose garden and a number of Wildlife and nature centers to enjoy.
I hope you do come and have a marvelous time.
Depending where I am when you arrive, I'd love to meet you.
Keep in touch.
OMGosh! I am so thankful you and your husband are ok and safe. I am sure that is very scary. I have never experienced it, but I can only imagine. And yes, How great He is! I stand all amazed at the daily miracles in my life. Given to me by my loving Savior Jesus Christ. Thanks for sharing your amazing story. Hugs, Karie
I am so glad you are ok, Lynn. My kids all live in FL, 2 in the Tampa Bay area and I heard a tornado touched down there too. Thank God you are all ok. What a Godsend your hubby is to keep you safe and having the right mind to know what you need to do in that situation...Christine
Praise the Lord for your safety. Tornados can cause major destruction.
The photo of the sunrise is beautiful!
Blessings,
Joan
